Creation
Since the High Middle Ages, a precious piece of creation has been entrusted to our family: among others, 130,000 square meters of vineyards in VDP.Großen and VDP.Ersten Lage sites. It is our sacred duty and joy alike to keep them alive for the future.
VDP.GROSSE LAGEN
The vineyards of JOHANNISBERG and FELSENECK in Wallhausen on the Nahe
are among the VDP.GROSSE LAGEN of Weingut Prinz Salm. Our family has demonstrably cultivated these historic vineyards for over 800 years. The Wallhäuser FELSENECK, in particular, is one of the most distinctive Riesling sites on the Nahe and produces mineral, long-lived wines.
The SCHARLACHBERG in Bingen is a site of world renown and is one of the 20 most prestigious sites in Germany. The KIRCHBERG in Bingen also belongs to the absolute elite of German vineyards.

The three VDP.ERSTEN LAGEN (VDP.FIRST GROWTHS) stand for first-class sites with an individual profile. The Roxheimer Berg, the Sommerlocher Steinrossel and the Dalberger Ritterhölle have long shown that they produce wines of exceptional quality.

CRAFT
Prince Felix's great-grandfather was a co-founder of the VDP (then called the Association of Natural Wine Auctioneers). Even today, we are one of the 9 VDP wineries on the Nahe.
The VDP and its members form the qualitative vanguard (currently only 200 estates) of German viticulture. It advocates for high quality. This is ensured, among other things, by a high degree of manual labor, site classification, and yield limitations.
Prince Michael, as president of the VDP from 1990 to 2007, significantly contributed to the renaissance of the VDP. Under his direction, the VDP classification, among other things, was developed. He led the VDP into the modern era and is now its honorary president.
SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT
For over 800 years, we have been cultivating our vineyards. Sustainability runs in our veins. Therefore, it was a logical consequence for us to start with organic viticulture in 1988. Since 2018, we have been FAIR’N GREEN certified. It is the seal for sustainability in viticulture and includes the control and sustainable further development of all areas of our work.
COOL CLIMATE
Just like the soil, our climate is also part of our terroir. Our vineyards extend to altitudes of over 300 m above sea level. The Hunsrück provides a cool air current, meaning that the Wallhausen vineyards, in particular, ripen later and shine with their distinctive characteristics even in warm vintages.
